Screenbucket support

Screenbucket keeps your latest screenshots at the top of your screen, captions each one in a few words and makes them all searchable. Everything runs on your Mac.

Getting started

On first launch, choose the folder macOS saves screenshots to. It's the Desktop unless you've changed it. Screenbucket finds the screenshots there and shows them in its library.

Opening the shelf

Point at the notch on a MacBook, or at the small tab at the top middle of other displays, and your recent screenshots drop down. Drag one, or a whole stack, into any app. Click the shelf to type a search. You can also choose Show Recent Screenshots from the menu bar icon.

Captions after installing

Captions come from two models that download in the background after you install Screenbucket from the App Store. Until they arrive, screenshots are found by their text and labelled with the app they were taken in. The menu bar icon's menu shows the download's progress, and screenshots taken meanwhile are captioned once it finishes. Captions need a Mac with Apple silicon.

Screenshots arriving late

While the macOS corner thumbnail is on, macOS holds each screenshot back for about five seconds. To turn it off, press Shift-Command-5, click Options, then turn off Show Floating Thumbnail.

Changing the screenshot folder

Choose Change Screenshot Folder from the menu bar icon's menu. Screenbucket only reads the folder you choose.
